Workshop on Unsaturated Zone Transport – Vapor Intrusion and Natural Attenuation of PetroleumArt Baehr (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)) and Matthew A. Lahvis ( Shell Global Solutions, formally with USGS) conducted a workshop on modeling unsaturated zone transport as it pertains to vapor intrusion in buildings and natural attenuation of petroleum product spills. The workshop was part of the Conference on Soil and Groundwater Contamination, Bredsten, Denmark, March 6-8, 2006, which was sponsored by the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences. Information on the application of the R-UNSAT, a computer model for the simulation of reactive, multispecies transport in a heterogeneous, variably-saturated porous media, was presented at the workshop. R-UNSAT was developed as part of the Toxic Substance Hydrology Program investigation of the natural attenuation of a gasoline spill at Galloway, New Jersey . Instructors
