Brine Impacts at the Osage-Skiatook Petroleum Environmental Research Project Sites

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) was a sponsor of a special session on "Brine Impacts at the Osage-Skiatook Petroleum Environmental Research Project Sites" at the 13th International Petroleum Environmental Conference, San Antonio, Texas, October 17-20, 2006. This session presented information on the past and present impacts to soil, surface and ground waters, and ecosystems caused by produced water from petroleum production operations. The session features presentations on the USGS Osage-Skiatook Petroleum Environmental Research Site (OSPER), Oklahoma. The OSPER project is a multidisciplinary investigation to determine the fate and effects of the disposal of produced water on the near-surface environment.
