AWRA Specialty Conference--Agricultural Hydrology and Water Quality
The
USGS is co-sponsoring the American Water
Resources Association (AWRA) specialty conference "Agricultural Hydrology
and Water Quality" on May 12-14, 2003, in Kansas City, Missouri. This
conference will showcase multidisciplinary research on agricultural hydrology
and water quality. The conference organizers are looking for presentations
on multidisciplinary studies on
- the impact of current and alternative agricultural practices and management
systems on water quality;
- the environmental impacts of concentrated animal feeding operations
(CAFOs) and the related policy implications of CAFOs;
- the occurrence, fate, and significance of agricultural pharmaceuticals
(antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs); and
- many other topics related to agricultural hydrology and water quality.
The conference will bring together policy makers, regulators, scientists,
industries, farmers, and environmental advocacy groups to discuss issues
related to agricultural practices and their impact on the environment.
