API Oxygenates Workshop

USGS scientist James Landmeyer was asked to be one of the instructors for the American Petroleum Institute http://www.api.org/ (API) Oxygenates Workshop at the National Ground Water Association's Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Organic Materials in Ground Water: Prevention, Assessment, and Remediation Conference and Exposition, Costa Mesa, California, August 20-22, 2003. The workshop described recent groundwater research on the fate and remediation of fuel oxygenates /definitions/fuel_oxygenates.html. The workshop included presentations on site characterization, mass flux estimates, natural attenuation, and remediation technologies for fuel oxygenates. Dr. Landmeyer presented information on the natural attenuation of fuel oxygenates.
