SmartWay Transport Partners that purchase SmartWay Tractors and SmartWay trailers and are in good standing are eligible to label the exterior of their SmartWay Tractors and Trailers with the SmartWay mark.

Who manufactures EPA Certified SmartWay tractors and trailers?

Carriers know they are getting a qualified tractor or trailer by the special logo affixed in the cab or trailer. Equipment manufacturers have developed unique specification sheets detailing equipment requirements and options for placing an order for an EPA Certified SmartWay tractor or trailer. EPA Certified tractors can be ordered through the following manufacturers:

• Daimler
• Navistat International
• Kenworth
• Mack
• Peterbilt
• Volvo

US EPA Certified SmartWay trailers can be ordered directly from the following manufacturers and their dealers:

• Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company
• Wabash National Corporation
• Great Dane Trailers
• Trailmobile Corporation
• Hyundai Translead

Many trailer dealers will sell upgraded trailers that have been certified SmartWay. Contact your local trailer dealer to see if it offers new and retrofit equipment that meets SmartWay specifications.

Who can use the SmartWay Tractor logo and SmartWay Trailer mark?

Only SmartWay Transport Partners in good standing and who agree to certain conditions may apply the mark to the exterior of their EPA Certified SmartWay equipment.

A partner that purchases an EPA Certified SmartWay tractor must commit to use low-rolling resistance tires and eliminate extended idle periods. The company must also sign the SmartWay mark guidelines. A partner that purchases an EPA Certified SmartWay trailer and signs the SmartWay mark guidelines may affix the “SmartWay Trailer” mark on the outside.

These marks signify the tractor and/or trailer meet EPA’s environmental and fuel-efficiency standards for excellence. This is an exclusive designation that sets the SmartWay Partner apart from its peers in the industry. For carriers and truckers, the SmartWay mark is a signal to consumers and the community that they are taking actions to limit the negative environmental impacts of their business operations.

Any company may purchase US EPA Certified SmartWay tractors and trailers. However, only SmartWay Transport Partners are eligible to place the SmartWay Tractor or Trailer mark on the exterior of their equipment. Learn more about becoming a SmartWay Partner.
