New 2004 American Community Survey (ACS) Tables — Approximately 120 tables include population profiles for race, Hispanic origin and ancestry groups; new place of work geography tables; and a new detailed table on median age at first marriage. (Scheduled for released Jan. 26.)

 

Survey-Related

Current Population Survey Data Collection — In February, Census Bureau field representatives will begin visiting 78,000 randomly selected households nationwide for the Current Population Survey’s update of employment data. They will also be collecting data on topics such as income, health insurance coverage, living arrangements and geographical mobility. Results will be available later this year. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-January.)

Survey of Income and Program Participation Data Collection — In February, interviewers will visit 45,000 randomly selected households nationwide to ask about informal caregiving, program participation, health insurance coverage, employment, income and other topics. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-January.)

Health Status, Health Insurance, and Health Services Utilization: 2001 — How heavily do Americans use health care services? If you’re looking for an answer, this report may be “just what the doctor ordered.” It provides data on the frequency of visits to doctors, dentists and hospitals and whether or not people are taking prescription medicine — by characteristics such as self-reported health status, age and health insurance coverage status. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-February.)

2002 Survey of Business Owners: Women-Owned Firms — Provides a more complete portrait of these businesses following an initial sketch of firms owned by women released last July. It provides more information at the state, metropolitan, county and city levels as well as by kind of businesses. First in a series of reports that will provide more in-depth information about businesses owned by Hispanics, blacks, Asians, native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders and American Indians and Alaska natives. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-January.)

2002 Economic Census: Subject Series — Fifty-seven reports for several industry sectors — all at the national level — are now being issued on a flow basis. These reports include information such as product shipments by contributing industries. All 883 geographic area series reports and 651 industry reports have been published. Profile America and Al Dia (Spanish) for February — Upcoming segments include “America’s First Hospital” (Feb. 11), “Valentine’s Day” (Feb. 14), “President’s Day” (Feb. 20) and the “Winter Olympics ” (Feb. 25). Profile America commemorates Black History Month 2006 with a special daily features series. Among the African-Americans of historical note profiled are “Maurice Ashley” (Feb. 4), “Sarah Goode” (Feb. 6), “Martin Robinson Delany” (Feb. 11), “Condoleezza Rice” (Feb. 12) and “Tony Dungy” (Feb. 14).
