Historical Census Statistics on Population Totals by Race, 1790 to 1990, and by Hispanic Origin, 1970 to 1990, for Large Cities and Other Urban Places in the United States — Contains tabulations illustrating how racial and ethnic composition has changed over the years in 306 cities across the nation. It provides data collected at each census up to 1990 from the time they became available for the city. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 19.)

 

Survey-Related

School Enrollment — Social and Economic Characteristics of Students: October 2003 —Latest national estimates of the number of students in school — from nursery school to college — with updated information on the impact of baby boomers’ children on the student population. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of May 29.)

Estimates of U.S. Population by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2004 — National-level population estimates cross-tabulated by these demographic characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 5.)

American Housing Survey for Selected Metro Areas in 2004 — First statistics from this survey for 13 metropolitan areas, covering a wide variety of housing topics, e.g., presence of air-conditioning, housing costs and satisfaction with neighborhood. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 5.)

2004 Subcounty Population Estimates — Estimates of the population of the nation’s 19,465 incorporated places — cities, towns, villages and boroughs — as of July 1, 2004. Also included are population estimates for the nation’s minor civil divisions that have functioning governments. Rankings by extent of population growth are provided. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 12.)

Facts for Features: Back to School — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to teachers, students and the reopening of the country’s schools. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 12.)

Data Collection for Quarterly Consumer Expenditure Survey — In July, Census Bureau interviewers will contact a national sample of randomly selected households in a survey that measures how much Americans spend on groceries, clothing, health care and housing. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 19.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection — In July, Census Bureau field representatives will begin visiting randomly selected households for the Current Population Survey’s update of employment data. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 19.)

2002 Economic Census: Geographic Area Series — Data for states, metropolitan areas, counties and cities — published by state and industry sector. Information on the number of establishments and employees; payroll; and sales and receipts or value of shipments. Released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/geosumm.htm>.

Survey of State and Local Government Employment and Payroll: 2004 — Summary data on the number of employees and gross payrolls by government function for the nation, states and the District of Columbia. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 12.)
