Advanced Technologies and Instrumentation  (ATI)

SYNOPSIS

The Advanced Technologies and Instrumentation (ATI) program provides grants to support the development and construction of state-of-the-art detectors and instruments for the visible, infrared, and radio regions of the spectrum.  These include, and are not limited to, the application of new hardware and software technology and innovative techniques in astronomical research, interferometric imaging and adaptive optics.  Proposals in the area of adaptive optics that address the community-developed 2008 Adaptive Optics Roadmap for future development (http://www.aura-astronomy.org/nv/AO_Roadmap2008_Final.pdf) should make clear the relation of the proposed work to the Roadmap goals.

Instrumentation projects should be driven by clearly-articulated scientific goals.  All proposals to the ATI program should include a brief task implementation plan with milestones, schedules, and costs.
