More than 100 graduates from 29 states attended the Summer Commencement for Western Governors University on July 19, 2008 at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah. Students and family who could not attend were able to watch live video of the ceremony via video stream on the Internet.

This graduation, degrees were awarded to 642 graduates from 48 states. WGU awarded 401 undergraduate degrees and 241 graduate degrees. WGU holds graduation ceremonies twice each year.
