Great news! Through the generosity of numerous corporations and foundations, plus special federal government appropriations, Western Governors University is able to offer attractive scholarships to qualified students.
Some scholarships are restricted to individuals pursuing degrees in certain programs or who reside in specific geographic areas. We encourage all individuals to apply who meet the specific scholarship criteria.
WGU Recognition for
Military Sacrifice Scholarships
For severely injured service members, their spouses, and spouses of service members killed in action. Scholarships valued up to $2,000 designed to help severely injured service members, their spouses, and the spouses of service members killed in action attend college online to earn their degree to improve their education and their employability. These scholarships are available to use towards any WGU online degree program. Made possible through funding from Western Governors University. Health Informatics Scholarships

Scholarships for Rural
Mathematics and Science Educators
Scholarships up to $7,500 designed to help working adults become highly-qualified mathematics and science teachers in America’s rural schools. These scholarships are available for all Teachers College programs in mathematics or science education. Made possible through a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. WGU-AAE Scholarships
Two scholarships, each valued up to $5,000, to be awarded quarterly, designed to help currently working K-12 teachers attend college—on their schedule. The WGU-AAE Educational Leadership Scholarship is designed for those interested in WGU's M.Ed. or M.S. in Educational Leadership degrees. Scholarships up to $2,000 designed to help aspiring principals attend college online to earn their licensure to become a school principal. Troops to Teachers
Troops to Teachers is a special program offering stipends up to $5,000 (or a bonus up to $10,000) for certain active or retired military personnel, or a current member of the Reserves or National Guard, to earn a teaching degree or certification. Spouses to Teachers
