NOTE: Data are counts of jobs by place of work. Estimates subsequent to the current benchmark are
provisional and will be revised when new information becomes available. Area definitions are based on
Office of Management and Budget Bulletin No. 08-01, dated November 20, 2007, and are available at
http://www.bls.gov/lau/lausmsa.htm. Areas in the six New England states are Metropolitan New England City
and Town Areas (NECTAs), while areas in other states are county-based. Some metropolitan areas lie in two
or more states. They are listed under the state that appears first in their titles. Davenport-Moline-Rock
Island, Iowa-Ill., and Weirton-Steubenville, W. Va.-Ohio, are the exceptions in that they are listed under
Illinois and Ohio, respectively, for operational reasons. Classification System (NAICS) as the basis for
