Information Systems and Technology
Management (ISTM) Operations
The Operations branch of ISTM is responsible
for the operation and maintenance of all
CSREES information technology resources,
24 hours a day, seven days a week. The
C2IT Support Staff, an integral part of
this unit, is the front line for information
technology problem resolution.
Some of the core services provided by
this unit include:
- E-mail Management—CSREES e-mail
servers, configurations, and end-user
e-mail support.
- Customer Support—customer software
support and workstation problem resolution,
via C2IT.
- Security—plans, develops, implements,
and maintains programs, policies, and
procedures to protect the integrity and
confidentiality of agency systems, networks,
and data.
- System Administration—server
and operating system management and maintenance.
- Desktop Management—CSREES customers
receive support and assistance for agency-standard
software packages.
- Hardware Support—troubleshoot
and correct system malfunctions; repair
and install printers, monitors, circuit
boards, chips, cards, PDAs, laptops,
scanners, video, and other related IT
equipment.
- Technology Consulting and Planning—strategic
planning of information services and
coordination with agency capital planning.
- Conference Room and Panel Support—conference
room support to the peer review panels
conducted during the grant proposal review
process.
