Special Session on Environmental Impacts of Petroleum Production at the 2004 Annual AAPG ConventionThe U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is sponsoring a special session on "Exploration and Production (E&P): Environmental Issues and Best Management Practices: Impacts on Water, Soil, and Ecosystems (O-19)" at the Annual American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Convention in Dallas, Texas, April 18-21, 2004. The objective of the session, which is part of the Convention's Theme 3 (Environmental Issues), is to present information on environmental issues associated with petroleum exploration and production to the resource managers and petroleum scientists. Scientists will present papers on the impacts of petroleum production on water, soil, and ecosystems; case studies of how to minimize environmental impacts from petroleum production; and natural and engineered remediation of the impacted areas. Special Edition of "Environmental Geosciences" Selected papers from this session were released as a special edition of "Environmental Geosciences" entitled "Environmental Issues of Petroleum Exploration and Production" USGS Presentations
