Our Web site Upper Navigation Bar Has Changed
We have recently instituted a fairly major change to our Web site: in the upper navigation bar on every Web site page, we have removed Funding Opportunities and Business with CSREES and reorganized the information under them within a new upper nav bar section called Grants.
The new Grants section will feature three sub-sections:
- Looking for Funding
- Applying for a Grant

Managing a Grant
Each of these sections has its own subpage, with associated subpages. None of the content on these pages is new; instead, it is old content (from Funding Opportunities and Business with CSREES) reorganized into new pages and sections, which we hope will help users find information more easily and intuitively.
A significant change is our semantic conversion from funding opportunities to grants. We feel that the word grant more accurately reflects the nature of the funding entities that we manage; an analysis of search terms in Google reveals that grants is substantially more common than funding opportunities; and among search terms typed into our Web site search engine, grants is consistently among the top three most popular search terms.
This change requires users two clicks, instead of one, to get to our main list of grants. However, Grant Search is the first link users see on the new Grants page, under Looking for Funding. Also, all the urls (or addresses) for existing pages remain the same after the reorganization, meaning that any bookmarks to the pages still work.
