AATA PROPOSED DBE GOALS FOR FY 09

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) has established a goal of 0.79% for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (including both DBE’s and women owned firms) during FY 2009.

The proposed overall goal and its rationale are available for inspection during normal business hours, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday at AATA’s headquarters at 2700 S. Industrial Highway, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104, for 30 days following the date of this notice.

Comprehensive Operational Analysis of Keyline Transit, Dubuque, Iowa

The City of Dubuque, Iowa is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to prepare a Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) of the KeyLine Transit System. Project tasks will include review all transit services and make recommendations on how to improve the deficiencies of the lowest performing routes or services and determine ways of making the entire system more efficient, flexible, and customer-oriented. While the primary focus is examining the existing system, possible expansions into new areas or markets should be recommended if ridership and economic feasibility warrants it.

A pre-proposal conference and conference call is scheduled for  September 12, 2008 at 9:00 am to 10 a.m. Central Time at City Hall, 50 West 13th Street, in Conference Room B. For those who are unable to attend, call 563-690-6099.

HYBRID TRANSIT VEHICLES

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) working with CALSTART’s Small Hybrid Bus Working Group has released the small hybrid bus Request for Proposals (RFP). The performance-based solicitation is for between 16 and 23 small hybrid buses, 25 – 27 feet in length and approximately 19,500 GVWR. These buses will be ordered and used by members of the working group who have committed in principle to purchase between 1 and 3 vehicles per agency. Because the RFP is performance based, the proposers may employ a hybrid technology that they believe best meets the bus specifications and key performance parameters requested in the RFP by the Working Group. Butler Transit Authority (BTA) in Butler, PA is requesting proposals from qualified firms to provide a turnkey ITS vehicle technology system (“Smart Bus”) for up to 6 fixed route transit buses.  The base system will include GPS/GIS, AVL, predictive arrival, Voice Annunciation and APC with options for Smart Card/Farebox and other ITS components.

Transit Development Manager

Ben Franklin Transit, a public transportation agency operating in a service area of over 200,000 people located in Southeast Washington, is seeking a Transit Development Manager.

Position duties include:  

 Managing the Agency’s long-term planning activities; developing, conducting, and evaluating surveys and service requests; managing the Agency’s marketing and public relations activities; managing vanpool/rideshare programs; managing grant application process; managing major contractor services; promoting urban sustainability and livable communities; and managing route and service changes.  The 2008 Transit Development Budget is $1,269,861.

Minimum requirements -- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Transportation, Urban Development, Public Administration, Planning or a related field and five years increasingly responsible management level experience.  A Master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of experience and post-graduate education is preferred. The successful candidate must exhibit education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
