Department of the Navy Superior
Civilian Service Award
Mr.
Koichi Sekizawa, a member of the Region Legal Service Office in
Japan, was awarded the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian
Service Award. The guest speaker and presenter of the award was
Commander U.S. Naval Forces, Japan RADM James Kelly,
who made a
moving and inspirational speech in recognition of Mr. Sekizawa's
service. There were nearly 50 people in attendance from all over
Japan, to include a Senior Public Prosecutor from the Supreme
Prosecutor's Office in Tokyo, prosecutors from Yokohama, and a
distinguished professor from Nogoya University. Many members of Mr.
Sekizawa's family also attended.
Navy Judge Advocate General
Becomes a Three-Star Billet
Chief
of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. Gary Roughead administers the oath to
Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the Navy, Bruce MacDonald, promoting
him to Vice Admiral in the CNO's office at the Pentagon. The 2008
National Defense Authorization Act advanced the position of the
Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the Navy, Army, and Air Force to the
grade of a three-star general or flag officer.
