Gross Migration Summary — Internet file with counts of people 5 years old and over, nonmovers and movers by geographic area (United States, regions, states, counties and minor civil divisions in New England, and individual metropolitan areas); the numbers of in- and out-migrants from the same or different geographic area, as well as domestic net migration and the number of people living abroad five years ago. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of April 6.)

Women and Men in the United States: March 2002 — Report and tables with national level data from the March 2002 Current Population Survey show comparisons of women and men based on a variety of demographic and socioeconomic measures, such as age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation, income and poverty status. (Scheduled for release on March 24.)

Census Bureau Facts for Features: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic areas about the Asian and Pacific islander population whose heritage is celebrated in May. Similar Facts for Features commemorate other historic dates or events throughout the year. (Scheduled for release on April 17.)

Census Bureau Facts for Features: Older Americans Month — Data from the Census Bureau’s demographic areas about the 65-and-over population, which is honored and recognized in May. Similar Facts for Features commemorate other historic dates or events throughout the year. (Scheduled for release on April 17.)

County Population Estimates and Rankings: 2002 — Internet tables showing July 1, 2002, population estimates, rankings and components of change for the nation’s 3,141 counties. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of March 30.)

Population Estimates for Puerto Rico Municipios: 2002 — Estimates of the population of the commonwealth and its municipios as of July 1, 2002. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of April 20.)

Supplemental Security Income and its Noninstitutional Recipients: July 1997 and 1999 — Information about who receives SSI benefits, how much they receive and other demographic characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of April 20.)

Extended Measures of Well-Being: Living Conditions in the United States: 1998 — Examines a large set of well-being measures in 1998 and compares them with similar measures collected by the Census Bureau in 1992. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of April 20.)

Economic

2001 County Business Patterns — State and county data on business establishments, employment and payroll broken down by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for major economic areas, such as construction, manufacturing, retail trade, services and wholesale trade. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of March 30.)

Population and Housing Characteristics for the Congressional Districts of the 108th Congress Summary Files — 3/17/03 — Census 2000 data summaries for the newly defined boundaries of the 108th congressional districts. Statistics on 100-percent and sample population and housing subjects are presented for all states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Geographic areas include, but are not limited to the following entities with congressional districts: county; county subdivision; place, state portion of American Indian and Alaska Native area (with trust lands and no trust lands) and Hawaiian home land. Married-Couple and Unmarried-Partner Households: 2000 — 3/13/03 — Report and supplementary Internet tables show numbers of married-couple households in 2000, as well as unmarried-partner households consisting of partners of opposite sexes and partners of the same sex. Summary Social, Economic, and Housing Characteristics: 2000 (PHC-2) — Series of reports contain data based on 100-percent and sample questions. Sample subjects include: place of birth; residence in 1995; educational attainment; journey to work; veteran status; income in 1999; poverty in 1999; units in structure; fuel; home value; and contract and gross rent. Separate tabular reports for the nation, the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will be released on a flow basis through September. Geographic areas include state, county, county subdivision, place, American Indian and Alaska Native area, and Hawaiian home land. This series is similar to the 1990 census CPH-5 series. Educational Attainment in the United States, March 2001 and March 2002 — 3/21/03 — Two packages of 16 tables each on educational attainment trends at the national, state and large metropolitan-area levels. Internet address:

Consumer Expenditure Survey Data Collection: April 2003 — 3/12/03 — Data about how much Americans spend on groceries, clothing, health care and housing will be collected in April from a sample of randomly selected households across the country for the Consumer Expenditure Survey.

The Foreign-Born Population in the United States, March 2002 — 3/10/03 — Annual report and 60 tables show foreign-born population by nativity, citizenship status, year of entry into the United States and region of birth. Internet address:

Radio

The Profile America CD for April is in distribution. This series of 60-second features, one for each day of the month, is heard on more than 500 stations across the country. Each feature is keyed to an event whose anniversary or observance is celebrated on the air date. April’s Profile America covers such items as the banning of broadcast ads for cigarettes, Daylight Savings, the Civil Rights Act and Federal Income Tax Day.

A companion program Al Dia is produced for Spanish language stations. Copies of both programs are available by calling (301) 763-2806 or e-mailing your request to rreed@census.gov.
