The adsorber cell includes a combination of the heat exchanger media, adsorbent and a thin micromachined contactor media. Cells are stacked on top of each other to form adsorber and desorber units. Microtechnology based miniature adsorbers and desorbers can be used for heat pump and chemical separations applications. Heat pump applications could involve space conditioning by the adsorption and desorption of ammonia into carbon. Adsorption for separations include the adsorption and desorption of carbon dioxide from zeolite.
