Radio Production

The Broadcast Media and Technology Center's radio news team produces over 2,000 radio news stories each year. USDA Radio producers have traveled nationally and internationally covering topics such as the World Trade Organization, United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization, the Farm Bill, Conservation, Food Safety and Extension Service programs. The stories can be accessed daily via MP3/WAV/Real audio files available through USDA's Home Page, as well as a telephone record line at 202-720-6776.

There is also a weekly Feature Service that includes one documentary, five consumer features and five agriculture update features. These features can also be accessed via the internet at USDA's home page or on CD via the U.S. Postal Service. Currently 150 radio stations and or radio networks subscribe to the feature service via CD. An average of 165 stations per week access the programs via the internet. USDA's radio news and feature service has won numerous international and national broadcasting awards.
