COAL MINE FATALITY - On Friday, August 22, 2008, a 38 year old contract truck driver with three days experience was fatally injured on a coal haulage road. The truck struck the berm of the road near the crest of an average 5% grade road, at which time the driver either fell or jumped from the truck and was run over by the rear wheels. ![]() Best Practices
This is the 19th fatality reported in calendar year 2008 for coal mining. As of this date in 2007, there were 24 fatalities for coal mines. This is the 7th Powered Haulage fatality and 2nd Surface Powered Haulage fatality in 2008. There was one Powered Haulage fatality in the same period in 2007.
