This total understanding of customer requirements can include site visits to their facilities or soldiers in the field. The Illinois-based Arsenal manufactures gun mounts, artillery carriages, recoil mechanisms and other combat equipment, as well as tools and repair kits that support equipment in the field. The Arsenals quality initiatives have resulted in the manufacture of higher-quality goods, customer price cuts as much as 84 percent, and reduced production costs. The Arsenal also is landlord to more than 30 agencies and provides high-quality facilities support services that include supply purchasing, security, information technology, and building and infrastructure maintenance. Following a review of its landlord responsibilities, Rock Island was able to reduce facilities management costs by nearly 29 percent.
