The Federal Supply Service (Northeast and Caribbean Region) provides high-quality, common-use office supplies and services to federal agencies worldwide. Its success contributes to the ability of all agencies to carry out their missions and serve their customers in a timely and effective manner. Yet this is only part of the story. FSS (Northeast and Caribbean Region) saved taxpayers $300 million in fiscal year 1996 with its extraordinary purchasing power which leverages large price discounts for customers. Contributing to the saving was the agencys highly-effective personal property transfer, donation and sales programs. Headquartered in New York City, the FSS (Northeast and Caribbean Region) provides fleet and personal property management services in New England, New York, New Jersey and the Caribbean. FSS efforts are supported by an extensive database on customer buying habits and a diverse work force--reduced by 27 percent since 1993--that includes contract specialists, transportation operations specialists, engineers, customer service and marketing specialists, commodity management specialists and inventory managers.
