Washington, D.C. -- The Department of the Armys Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, will receive a Quality Achievement Award for improving customer service and savings tax dollars.
The award will be presented by U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King during the 10th Annual National Conference on Federal Quality on:
Director King also will present Fort Benning with the Presidential Award for Quality, the governments top honor for quality improvement. The National Conference on Federal Quality convenes Wednesday, July 9 and adjourns Friday, July 11.
During an era of rapid technological change, the Communications-Electronics Command Acquisition Center at Fort Monmouth saved American taxpayers nearly $4 billion over three years through cost-effective contracting innovations. Foremost among these initiatives is competitive best value acquisition procedures. Customer-service improvements include reducing acquisition cycle
times an average of 50 percent since 1994. While achieving these successes, the Center consistently maintains the highest quality standards for battlefield information systems, sensors, night-vision equipment, and similar items for both military and civilian markets.
