Washington, D.C. -- Federal employees who are eligible to transfer to the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) will not want to miss the next Federal Human Resources Forum Satellite Broadcast. The broadcast will provide valuable information on FERS retirement benefits to employees considering switching from the older Civil Service Retirement System during the upcoming July 1 - December 31 open season.
Experts from the Office of Personnel Management, the Social Security Administration, and the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board will compare and contrast both systems, discuss Social Security benefits that some employees might gain by transferring to FERS, cover Thrift Savings Plan issues of interest to people with the opportunity to transfer, and demonstrate use of the FERS Transfer Model.
The satellite broadcast is the latest in a quarterly series produced by the Interagency Advisory Group of personnel directors. It will air Wednesday, June 24, 1998, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT. The broadcast can be downlinked using the following coordinates:
C-Band: | Galaxy 6, Transponder 11, Orbital Position: 99 degrees West Downlink Frequency: 3920 MHZ, Polarity: Horizontal |
