Washington, D.C.-- The U.S. Office of Personnel Management today announced federal employees will have one additional week to sign up for the Flexible Spending Account Program, extending the open season now underway.
Frank Titus, OPM’s Assistant Director for Insurance Services, said the FSA open season will end on Friday, June 27; it had been scheduled to conclude on Friday, June 20.
“The one-week extension gives federal employees who are independently schooled on FSAs additional time to consider whether the features and benefits of the health-care FSA or dependent-care FSA match their current personal needs,” said Titus. “Of course, an education program will be conducted this autumn for employees who need more information before making this important decision.”
The FSA education program will be held concurrent with the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program’s annual open season.
The extension of the FSA open season will not change the July 1 effective enrollment date for those agencies whose automated systems are prepared to withhold FSA contributions from employees’ pay in July.
