Federal Workforce Conference will strengthen government agency leadership

Washington, D.C.- The Leadership Forum of the 2006 OPM Federal Workforce Conference: Transformation for Results, will provide conference participants with the opportunity to learn from leadership development speakers renown in and outside of government.

"The Leadership Forum is designed to encourage give-and-take between participants and presenters, creating a dynamic atmosphere that fosters the exploration of best practices in leadership," said Michael Beckmann, acting deputy associate director of OPM's Center for Leadership Capacity Services. "Participants have the opportunity to attend leadership sessions that enhance their interests and role within the federal government."

The Leadership Forum will be kicked off with a presentation on Leading Across Generations. The presentation focuses on the value of commonly-overlooked generational diversity found throughout the federal workforce. Participants will explore how generational styles, preferences, behaviors and expectations can be commingled resulting in a harmonious, high-performing and value-based workplace.

In addition, the forum includes multiple interactive workshops focused around leadership skill development, assessing leadership development, leading a diverse workforce and best practices in leadership.

The 2006 OPM Federal Workforce Conference: Transformation for Results, will be held February 27 - March 2, 2006, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The annual event will feature four days of sessions and seminars focused on the major issues and initiatives facing federal managers responsible for any aspect of human capital management.
