MARA T. PATERMASTER JOINS OPM AS CFC OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Washington, D.C. U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Janice Lachance today welcomed Mara Patermaster to the OPM team. Ms. Patermaster joins the agency as Combined Federal Campaign Operations Director, where she will oversee the largest workplace fund-raising drive.

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the annual fund-raising drive conducted by federal employees in their workplace each fall. Each year federal employees and military personnel raise millions of dollars for thousands of non-profit charities participating in the CFC.

I am very pleased to have Mara as part of our team, said OPM Director Janice Lachance. Her experience with volunteer organizations and interest in the community will help us enhance the CFC, which is so vital to so many Americans here and abroad.

Ms. Patermaster will report directly to OPM Deputy Director John Sepulveda. I look forward to working with Mara and expect that her leadership will raise greater awareness for the very important work of the Combined Federal Campaign, said Sepulveda.

Since 1996, Ms. Patermaster has been the Assistant Vice President for Planning and Governance at INDEPENDENT SECTOR, a national coalition of 800 voluntary organizations, foundations and corporate-giving programs.

Before joining INDEPENDENT SECTOR, Ms. Patermaster directed the corporate communications and corporate contributions program at MultiPlan, Inc., a national New York-based managed health care corporation. She also served as the founding Executive Director of the Shelley and Donald F. Rubin Foundation which provides grants to local and national organizations in a variety of areas, including race relations, family services, evaluation, AIDS, and policy research.

Ms. Patermaster is a graduate of the National Urban Fellows program. She earned a masters degree in public administration from Baruch College in New York City. Prior to her fellowship, she held various positions within the National Puerto Rican Coalition and was Executive Director of the Washington Office for the National Puerto Rican Forum, an employment training organization. She holds a bachelors degree from the University of Maryland.
