OPM RELEASES HEALTH
BENEFITS GUIDE AND
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEY
Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has released the 1997 Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Guide and third-annual customer satisfaction survey. Both the guide and survey have been redesigned to improve readability.
The FEHB Guide is used by federal employees and retired federal workers to compare the premium costs of and medical services covered by more than 380 health plans participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). The survey, which is included in the FEHB Guide, measures satisfaction levels of FEHBP customers in the areas of access to care, the quality of care received, benefits covered, and other important medical considerations.
Release of the guide and survey was timed to allow participants to make cost and coverage comparisons prior to the start of the annual Open Season, which runs from November 11 through December 9, 1996. The Open Season permits current enrollees to change health plans; eligible employees not already covered by FEHBP can initiate coverage during this period.
The FEHBP is the nation=s largest employer-sponsored health insurance program, providing insurance benefits to more than nine million federal employees, retirees, spouses and dependents.
Media interested in obtaining a copy of the FEHB Guide and customer satisfaction survey should call OPM=s Mike Orenstein at 202-606-1800. The guide and survey also may be retrieved via OPM=s Mainstreet electronic bulletin board by calling 202-606-4800, and accessing the AFEHB Guides, Brochures and other Open Season information.@
