Notes from the Project Coordinator to Atlas Participants: Access to online data entry for the second Maryland/D.C. Breeding Bird Atlas (2002-2006) has been closed. If you still have any atlas data that you have not yet entered or finalized, or need to make any corrections to the data that you have already finalized, e-mail me at: rossgull@baybroadband.net or send the data or corrections to my postal address at: 23460 Clarissa Road, Chestertown, MD, 21620. If you still have your paper field cards, it would be useful to save them for future atlas observers. If you, your coordinator, or local chapter have no plans to archiving field cards, I am willing to take them in the interim until MOS produces a plan for their long-term storage. If you do not have your old field cards, that is not a serious problem; I note that most observers in the first atlas project never had a reference field card in any of their assigned blocks. Nonetheless, well-annotated field cards could be helpful for people working in your block decades hence. November 2007 Walter Ellison Data are presented here by agreement among the atlas project, NBII, and USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center.

The data presented herein may be used by anyone for educational purposes. However, if the data are to be reproduced as part of a research project or other publication, including on the internet, the Maryland and D.C. Breeding Bird Atlas must be attributed to the Maryland Ornithological Society (M.O.S.). The M.O.S. desires notification about publications making use of their data. These data are not to be used for commercial purposes including resale except by the M.O.S. and their publisher(s). Atlas data are subject to biases that limit their exhaustiveness, and until completion of data entry in 2006 do not constitute a complete set. Nonetheless, these data provide a valuable source of information on the nesting birds of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
