Roof Replacement
Project - Whitten and
South Buildings
The
Roof Replacement Project
was awarded on September
30, 2007 to an 8(a)
contractor, Verrazano
Contracting Company,
Inc. (Washington, D.C.).
The contract award amount
is $1,925,161. The construction
Notice to Proceed date was
October 30, 2007, with
a completion date of
July 26, 2008. The scope
of work will include:
Replace Central (A)
flat roof and replace
the Moat areas roof
of the east and west
wings of the Whitten
Building, Replace Court
5 Center and East flat
roofs and Replace
Moat Area roof, 6th
floor of the South building.
Most of the work producing
excessive noise and
vibrations will be done
after work hours, weekends,
and holidays. Occupants
affected by the construction
will be notified prior
to the start of construction.
DA will conduct briefings
for all affected agencies
and other interested
offices on what to expect
during the construction
phase. The initial briefings
were held on October
30, and December 4,
2007. The Office of
Operations plans to
provide regular e-mail
updates on the progress
of construction and
post periodic updates
on the OO web page.
Current
Construction Activities
Construction
activities started on
Monday, December 17,
2007. The contractor
, Verrazano Contracting
Company Inc., mobilized
and began work on the
Whitten Building Central
Section flat roof. This
roof is now substantially
complete and a final
walk through is schedule
for April 1st, 2008.
Next the contractor
mobilized and started
work on the East Wing
moat area roof late
in Febraury, 2008 and
is scheduled to be complete
the first week in April.
West Wing moat area
roof work has begun
with drain replacement
as of mid March. The
contractor plans to
fully mobilize on the
WestWwing moat roof
during the first week
of April. While the
West Wing moat roof
work is ongoing the
contractor will mobilize
on the South Buildings
Court 5 Roof.
