Why Think About Saving?
A Live Satellite Broadcast on Securing a Brighter Financial Future

Washington, D.C. -- While federal employees have a strong retirement system, it is also important for them to save for a rainy day in retirement. But how much is enough? The Federal HR Forum will present a live satellite broadcast to answer that question and others, such as, "Do you know what percent of your retirement income you will need to do the things you want?" And, "How much of it should come from savings?"

The theme of the broadcast is Planning Ahead: Saving and Your Financial Future, and will be shown on Wednesday, November 10, from 1 p.m. through 2 p.m (ET).

In addition to the broadcast, federal employees who have questions and concerns about planning for their financial future may attend a Savings and Education Fair sponsored by the American Savings and Education Council (ASEC) and other Government Interagency Group (GIG) members.

The fair will have tabletop displays of financial information for employees from a number of GIG members, including the Office of Personnel Management, Federal Trade Commission, and Social Security Administration. The fair will run from noon through 2 p.m. in the Patio Room of the Department of Agriculture's Jamie L. Witten Building. The Witten building is located at the intersection of 14th Street, Independence Avenue and Jefferson Drive.

In conjunction with the displays, the satellite broadcast will be shown live.

This year's winners are the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, DC; the U.S. Agency for International Development, Washington, DC; and the Defense Logistics Agency, Department of Defense, Fort Belvoir, VA.
