Paper in Prints

May 1-July 31, 1977

Overview: 148 prints, drawings, and illustrated books ranged from the 14th to the 20th century. Included were 14 works by Rembrandt van Rijn as well as work by Robert Rauschenberg. Variations in the paper used for printed images were explored: the surface qualities of paper, the effect of different tones and colors, and the size and treatment of margins and edges. Andrew Robison organized the exhibition, which was designed by Gaillard Ravenel and Mark Leithauser.
