stage III nonmelanoma skin cancer (… non-MEH-luh-NOH-muh skin KAN-ser)

 Cancer that forms in squamous cells or basal cells in the skin. The cancer has spread below the skin to tissues such as cartilage, muscle, or bone and/or to nearby lymph nodes, but not to other parts of the body.
