"I think it is wonderful, and it brings us a step closer to providing health care security to the federal family, that the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee has passed long-term care insurance.
"This positive outcome shows that the long-term care needs of millions of current and retired federal employees and members of the military, as well as eligible family members, are understood and are given the priority they deserve.
"I commend the bipartisan efforts that resulted in this Committee action, and I hope the same spirit will carry this bill to the Presidents desk."
