The mission of the Protective Operations Division is to provide physical security, medical services, occupational safety and health, and environmental protection services. Services are provided in the USDA Headquarters Complex, the George Washington Carver Center, and at selected leased headquarters buildings in the Nation Capital Region (NCR). POB staff serves as liaison with the General Services Administration (GSA) and other oversight agencies by conducting reviews and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance, providing policy, consultation, advisory services and internal control practices. POD provides and maintains administrative and security systems: key and badge issuance and control; facility access control; visitor, employee and contractor security processing; incident reporting; management and implementation of the Departmental parking program, an occupational health safety program, and an environmental safety program.
