Black Brant Protocol

Black Brant are banded with colored plastic bands with individual engraved codes. The color of the tarsal band indicates the area where the bird was marked.

Red band, White codes: Russia--Wrangel Is. and Chukotska Peninsula
Yellow band, Black codes: Alaska, Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge (NWR)
White band, Blue codes: Alaska, Yukon Delta NWR
Green band, White codes: Alaska, North Slope, Teshekpuk area
Blue band, White codes: Arctic Canada
Brown band, White codes: Vancouver Island
Aqua band, Black codes: Alaska, North Slope, Oil Fields
Orange band, Black codes: Alaska, Yukon Delta NWR
Silver band, White codes: Alaska, Yukon Delta NWR
