Government Transportation Financial Statistics

Government Transportation Financial Statistics (GTFS) consists of transportation revenues and expenditures for Federal, state and local governments. In addition, the GTFS contains Federal transportation grants, budget authority, and obligations. Federal government revenues and expenditures data are available for Fiscal Year (FY) 1977-2003 and grants to state and local governments for FY 1977-2002. State government data are provided for FY 1977-2002 and local government data are presented for FY 1977-2001. Federal budget authority and obligations data are available for FY 1985-2003. All data are reported in current and chained 2000 dollars, except for Federal budget authority and obligations, which are provided in current dollars only.

GTFS 2003 report presents the complete dataset and discussion of data coverage, methodology and reliability. The searchable database allows users to generate customized GTFS tables, and the mapping application allows users to generate customized maps of state and local government revenues and expenditures for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
