Navajo Nation Program Summary
Mr. Joe Shirley, Jr., President Mr. Akhtar Zaman, Director Minerals Department Navajo Tribal Council Navajo Nation P. O. Box 1910 Window Rock, AZ 86515 The Navajo Nation is located within the borders of three states: Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. The nation is approximately the size of West Virginia. The training program conducts classes for miners and contract employees working on the mining operations leased by the Navajo Nation. The purpose of the training is to educate and make miners and mine operators aware of the many health and safety hazards related to the mining industry. Assistance is provided for compliance with applicable sections of Federal and Tribal mine safety and health regulations. The program conducts job safety analysis (JSA) to train miners to anticipate and eliminate safety hazards. Classes include:
