North Dakota Safety Council, Inc. 1640 Burnt Boat Drive Bismarck, ND 58503 The North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education is the training agency responsible for mine safety and health training in North Dakota. It is the responsibility of the Department of Career and Technical Education to implement and continue the program of health and safety training and retraining miners and contractor employees in accordance with Parts 46 and 48, Title 30, CFR. Mining operations throughout the State utilize the training program presented by the North Dakota Safety Council to either conduct or supplement their training and retraining of employees The North Dakota Safety Council is a non-profit organization under the North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education. In North Dakota, training is conducted on mine sites as well as central locations convenient to mining operations and to contract employees. For the convenience of mining companies and contractors, the North Dakota safety Council also makes their video and print libraries available. MSHA certified instructors and staff are available for consultations between mine operators and contractors. Training courses offered include:
The eight hour special emphasis training course for sand and gravel operators provides information on prevention of silicosis, hearing protection, weather related safety concerns, awareness of powered haulage hazards, water safety, miners' rights, MSHA regulations and standards. In addition to on-site training classes, the Safety Council conducts an Annual Safety and Health Seminar which is attended by some 700 people who participate in more than 55 different training sessions during the three day event.
