Diabetes Costs
The direct medical costs have doubled in the past five years, from $44 billion in 1997 to $92 billion in 2002. The total annual costs in medical expenditures and lost productivity have soared from $98 billion to now $132 billion in just five years. It's clear to me that diabetes is a huge financial drain on patients, their families, and society.
