Habitat Restoration
Funded Projects
The CRP funds projects that will result in on-the-ground
restoration of habitat to benefit living marine resources,
including anadromous fish species. These projects contribute
to the return of degraded or altered marine, estuarine,
coastal and freshwater anadromous fish habitats to a
close approximation of their condition prior to disturbance.
Many of our projects improve coastal wetland tidal
exchange or reestablish historic hydrology; remove dams
or berms; improve or reestablish fish passage; establish
riparian buffer zones and freshwater habitat to support
anadromous fishes; plant native vegetation in coastal
wetlands, submerged aquatic habitats, and riparian areas;
and enhance feeding, spawning and growth areas essential
to marine or anadromous fish. Our restoration projects
are multi-faceted efforts involving project design,
construction, and monitoring.
Disclaimer: The NOAA Restoration Center
(RC) web site aims to provide the public with information
on projects funded through the Community-based Restoration
Program. The information provided for each project is
dynamically obtained through a database of restoration
projects that is updated and reviewed by RC staff prior
to being made available on-line. The information contained
in the database of restoration projects is obtained through
conversations with our project partners, e.g., Tampa BayWatch,
The Nature Conservancy, etc., as well as site visits and
project proposals. Although every effort is made to provide
accurate and timely information, changes may occur prior
to updating this database, therefore the RC cannot provide
any warranty as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness
of information or data. The RC welcomes suggestions on
how to improve this web site and correct errors.
