Scientific Public Health Assessment & Policy

Many of the FSIS scientific positions involve
food safety and the monitoring and evaluation of public health hazards
associated with animal populations from the farm through the processing
of meat, poultry and eggs. Individuals working in the scientific positions
appraise and interpret scientific and medical analysis and are involved
in developing and evaluating sound food safety programs to reduce
or eliminate foodborne illness both domestically and abroad. These
public health professionals serve as critical team leaders and team
members in solving food safety problems and providing their expertise
to the Agency, other federal and state agencies, industry, and consumer
groups.
