Audio and Video Podcasts
What are podcasts?
A podcast is a collection of audio or video content that's powered by subscription software called RSS. Just like a magazine automatically gets delivered to your home when you subscribe, a podcast delivers new content directly to you -- without you having to check on the Web site for updates.
How do I subscribe?
You need the following items:
1) Podcasting software
There are any number of free programs that you can download to play your podcasts -- itunes and ipodder are the most common.
2) The URL of your podcast's RSS/XML feed
http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/podcast/podfeed.xml
Beside each of our podcasts, you'll see an orange XML graphic. By clicking on this, you view the actual RSS/XML feed for that particular podcast. Most software will ask you for the URL of the podcast to which you'd like to subscribe. To provide this, click the XML graphic on the page and copy the URL that appears at the top. Or you can paste the URL that appears to the right of the orange graphic into your browser. Note: some software, such as iTunes, won't prompt you for the URL but will instead list podcasts in a directory on their site.
