EFH for the Pacific Council |
Site
Overview The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) is one of eight regional fishery management councils created by the 1976 Magnuson Fisheries Conservation and Management Act, renamed Magnuson Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act in 1996, to manage living marine resources within that area. The PFMC is responsible for the creation of management plans for fishery resources (FMPs) in Federal waters off the coasts of California, Oregon, and Washington. These FMPs are for: Pacific coast groundfish, commercial and recreational west coast salmon fisheries, and northern anchovy/coastal pelagics. The EFH descriptions and identifications for the Pacific's FMPs were approved on: September 27, 2000, for west coast salmon fisheries; June 10, 1999, for northern anchovy/coastal pelagics; and March 3, 1999, for Pacific coast groundfish. This website is designed to inform viewers about these Pacific EFH descriptions and identifications. Contact the PFMC: Phone: (503) 820-2280 About the PFMC |
