Glossary of Hydrologic Terms - J
These definitions have been compiled from various sources, including the USGS's Water Resources Data, Weather Service Operations Manual, Chapter E-90, and Glossary of Meteorology (AMS, 1959).
- jetty
- A structure (e.g.; a pier, or mole of wood or stone) extending into a sea, lake, or river to influence the current or tide or to protect a harbor.
- juvenile water
- Water formed chemically within the earth and brought to the surface in intrusive rock.
