NASA Glenn Research Center's
High School Summer Computer Workshop

August 4-15, 1997

This project is a product of the IITA Regional Summer Computer Workshop held at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio during August, 1997. Participants used information about the complex scientific research that they learned from their NASA Mentors and developed this project to explain the basic scientific principle of LIFT of an aircraft. To help students understand the principle of LIFT and the variables that effect it, a NASA developed software program, "FoilSim", was studied extensively. Teachers who developed the project are:

Michael Burich - Shaw High School
East Cleveland, Ohio

Fr. Timothy Buyansky, OSB - Benedictine High School
Cleveland, Ohio

Deborah Clark - Summers Middle School
Hinton, West Virginia

Gloria Mertz - Troy School
Avon Lake, Ohio

Anne Marie Sherry - Kenwood Academy High School
Chicago, Illinois

Monica Stilson - Boardman Center Middle School
