Documentation Requirements
- For beef and beef products. FSIS Form 9060-5, Meat and Poultry
Export Certificate of Wholesomeness is required. The following certification
statements must be included in the Remarks section or on an FSIS
letterhead
certificate:*
- The United States meets or exceeds the OIE guidelines
pertaining to bovine meat and meat products as it relates to BSE.
- The feeding of ruminants with meat and bone meal or greaves
from ruminant origin has been prohibited since 1997 and has been
effectively enforced.
- All cattle are humanely stunned by a method that does not
inject air into the cranial cavity.
- The meat or meat products were not derived from the
following specified risk materials: the brain, skull, eyes,
trigeminal ganglia, spinal cord, vertebral column (excluding the
vertebrae of the tail, the transverse processes of the lumbar and
thoracic vertebrae and the wings of the sacrum) and dorsal root
ganglia of cattle 30 months of age and older; and the tonsils and
distal ileum of the small intestine of any cattle, regardless of
age.
- United States regulation prohibits the use of mechanically
separated beef for use as human food.
- The United States is free from Foot and Mouth Disease.
- For fresh, cured, or smoked meat products. The following
statement must be included in the Remarks section of the FSIS Form 9060-5:
"The United States is free of Foot and Mouth Disease."
Plants Eligible to Export
All Federally inspected establishments are eligible to export.
