AbilityOne Award Ceremony
Departmental Administration
conducted its 15th
Annual Small Business
and AbilityOne Award
Program on June 25,
2008. Thirty-five
small businesses and
four AbilityOne nonprofit
organizations were
recognized for their
outstanding service
to USDA. Eight individuals
and groups of employees
were also recognized
for their diligent
work with the small
business and AbilityOne
communities. Assistant
Secretary Boyd Rutherford
introduced Secretary
Edward Schafer, who
provided keynote remarks,
and Deputy Assistant
Secretary Gilbert
Smith assisted with
award presentations.
Approximately 250
individuals participated
in the event on the
Patio of the Whitten
Building. Participants
included the award
winners and other
members of their organizations,
USDA leadership who
assisted with the
presentations, and
additional USDA personnel.
The Office
of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization
(OSDBU) is available
to assist the small
business community and
act as its advocate
and liaison with the
Department of Agriculture.
