Program Description
The principal mission of the Commission is to adjudicate claims of U.S. nationals
against foreign governments, exercising jurisdiction conferred by the International
Claims Settlement Act of 1949, as amended, and other authorizing legislation.
To date, the Commission has compiled and evaluated such claims against 18 countries:
Yugoslavia, Panama, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Italy, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia,
Poland, Cuba, China, the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany), Vietnam,
Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, Albania, and the Federal Republic of Germany.
