Live Webcast Will Preview Mars Rover Adventure
On May 1st, students will be invited to conduct science and engineering experiments based on those of the actual Mars Exploration Rover mission. The live, interactive broadcast will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern Time (10 a.m. Pacific Time) and will be hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy along with guests from the NASA team responsible for the mission. The webcast will be held at www.jpl.nasa.gov/webcast/mars/countdown-to-mars.cfm and passporttoknowledge.com/mars.
The Mars Exploration Rover mission will land twin robotic rovers on Mars early next year. The rovers will search for geological evidence of past liquid water activity and past environmental conditions hospitable to life on the Red Planet. Searching for signs of past or present life on Mars is a primary goal of astrobiology.
